Clinical laboratory technicians are now in demand in the medical industry as clinical laboratory science is now on a current high. A number of students have already decided to further their study in medical technologist schools and take up a laboratory science program instead of ending up with regular nursing jobs and tiring medical doctor duties. What are the duties of medical technologists, though?

The job of a clinical laboratory technician is similar to the job of a medical lab technologist. Both of them are in charge of the operations done inside the laboratory in clinics or hospitals; they examine and do laboratory reports on patients upon doctors' orders.

Laboratory operations include blood and urine sampling, and then later on, once a sample has already been attained, the clinical or medical laboratory technologist will examine and test the patient's samples. There is not much of a difference between the two - except perhaps what they are called. As of now, a clinical laboratory technologist and a medical lab technologist are both offered jobs in public health facilities, reference laboratories, research laboratories, and laboratories in industrial plants.

Due to the sudden increase in the demand in the medical or clinical laboratory science industry, there are now a number of medical technologist schools offering high quality education to a student who has decided to become a medical laboratory technologist. A medical technologist school usually offers accredited programs online, too.

The health care market is expected to grow even more. Around 30% growth is expected in a mere ten years! This can only mean more job opportunities. With a starting pay of around $32,000 to $40,000 per annum, who would not want to enroll in a medical technician school and study to become a medical technician?

Clearly, laboratory science programs are worth studying as laboratory science jobs prove to be very inviting and flexible - sure jobs and high pay!
